Re: OOC Chat
Sorry. I have no interest in that ghoul. It has no practical use and isn't the sort of pet interest appropriate for Gauge. For it to even matter to Gauge it would need to have some sort of criminal, legal, political, or transportation influence.
...and be a Badass or a Girl. Wimpy, flakey, nerdy, or girlie men are not the sort that ever make it to Gauge's posse.

That reminds me, when I get a little IC free time, Josh needs to go visit her and see how she's doing. Though he obviously has a lot of stuff to deal with at BRI first.

Re: OOC Chat
If no one takes you up on that right away Brutus, I do actually have a storyline for you that could take that goal IC. Your concept happens to be very similar to an NPC of mine named Christine Lee. Her stage name is Angel, and she's also a street magician who owns a small shop to get by when she's not doing a show. Originally she was the Ghoul of an Invictus, but that Kindred was killed and the rest of the Covenant just wrote her off after that. She's been trying to find a Regnant ever since, or at least a source of Vitae. I could easily write you in as having some relation to her.
Ghoul for hire
Hello Players,
I'm hoping to portray a ghoul in the story and have been discussing some ideas with Claymore. What use, though, is a ghoul without a regnant? To that end I'd like to present a brief sketch of the character and ask if anyone would be interested in enthralling him. This is just an outline, and the specifics would be finalised by the three of us (you, myself and Claymore) before any stats are put down on paper, so if you like the idea, but would prefer certain things altered, give me a shout - I can be flexible in order to create a ghoul you'd actually want to utilise. Lastly, though I've tried my best not to do so, I apologise if this starts to sound like a parody of a sales pitch ("Want to extend your daytime influence? Need a doting retainer prepared to indulge your every whim? Dial 555-GHOUL now!") or a lonely hearts ad ("Ghoul seeks regnant for fun times, complicated power dynamics and general degradation. Must have GSOH and GTV [great tasting vitae]").
Gabriel Winters is a street magician, specialising in close-up card magic and sleight of hand. He was made a ghoul about five years ago and his talents, facilitated by the first level of Obfuscate, were put to good use stealing all manner of strange things that his regnant needed in the course of her Requiem. He also sometimes acted as her proxy during daylight hours and was a confidant, having the rare combination of being a strong character who is however fundamentally submissive, able to be deferential without being obsequious or grovelling. Unfortunately his regnant recently met Final Death and he has come to Sky Valley to find a new one.
Having already been a ghoul for a while, Gabriel is aware of the basics of the Danse Macabre and doesn’t need to have his hand held through the first few weeks or months. Of course, if a blank slate to mould as seen fit is preferable, he could easily be a bit greener.
Finally, with his thoroughly middle-class upbringing and pleasant English accent he has quite a charming demeanour and general presentability.
Please give me a PM if you'd like to know anything else or are interested in taking Gabriel on and don't hesitate to ask if there's something about him you'd like to change or add.

You're refering to Camille's roll, right? I don't see one for you. You'll have something else to respond to in a second anyway though.
Re: OOC Chat
Cool post Jedi. And Penny, you're fine, you're not holding anyone up. Unfortunately I'm kind of dealing with some shit right now. Sorry about this, but until I get some weight off my mind, my heart's just not going to be in the game. I should be able to get enough of it squared away in a couple days though, it won't take another full week.

Re: OOC Chat
Character? rolled 10d10s for Reason?, with a target of 8, rerolls on 10, and botches deactivated.
Dice Results: 2 2 3 10 (4) 1 4 7 1 10 (3) 8
3 successes
Okay, now it works. Apparently, the dice module does not, in fact, hate me, but Internet Explorer does. Got it. Do I need to reroll my most recent rolls or just keep them as is since I've copied them and linked back to them for verification?

Re: OOC Chat
Err.. yeah, not all my script works in IE, I've been using Mozilla. Even if this site weren't an issue though, I'd still highly recommend Mozilla Firefox over Internet Explorer. It loads a little bit faster, and doesn't get hijacked by adware nearly as often. Even has a built-in popup blocker. It'll even transfer all your favorites from IE. And according to my dad, the browser is actually the default one used at IBM, as well as the college I go to, so I'd swear by it.
By the way, that popup blocker may actually block the dice roller. But what'll happen is a bar will appear at the top of the screen letting you know something's been blocked, with an option button. Click the button, and you can tell the browser to always trust anything coming from forumotion.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html
It is possible to script some browser-recognition in my programs to get them compatible with everything. But I'd effectively have to reinvent entire blocks of code to get them to work in IE, and it was hard enough writing it the first time. And unless an Admin requests it, that's not something I plan on coming back to till I get some other features done so it'll probably be a while.

Re: OOC Chat
Is there some special Dice Button that I am missing? Because I've clicked on The Dice (between Prv. Msg and Log Out). When I make a roll (and I've made several both with and without botching, with targets of 8, etc) it invariably says I rolled a d (not a d10, or 10d10, just d) with a target of 8 (or 0 or whatever) and achieved 0 successes (invariably it states that I achieved 0 successes. And afterwards whether I right-click, left-click to highlight or etc., I cannot copy and paste the results.
I am using Internet Explorer, so that may be part of the problem. Meanwhile, I'm kind of stuck using the old RPoL die-roller, but it actually functions for me and right now the one on this site does not.

Re: OOC Chat
I doubt Josh is going to be in Elysium for much longer, so it's really not worth opening up another thread. I'll start one once you leave and hop on the investigation. You and the Regent are have a set of closed doors and a hallway between you and Gauge and Gwen, and they're tied up with the Sheriff now anyway. The Regent taking you to the exit at the other end of the auditorium, so you're free to keep chatting with him on the way.
Very interesting offer btw. I always figured you to be a wildcard.

Re: OOC Chat
By the way Josh, for the ads you already put up, I just noticed something. Starting XP was bumped from 35 to 50 after the first time I gave everyone that boost. I need to update that in my rules.
Noted and I've now made the changes in all five ads that I posted.
On another topic, do you want me to reply in the "Lion's Den" thread, wait for Jedi to post as Gauge or wait for you to open another thread since I'm leaving Gauge's location?

Re: OOC Chat
No biggie on the ad cap, I got three new RTJs out of it anyway. At least I assume that's where they all came from. Was about to ask if you had some kind of cap in mind anyway, to keep someone from racking up an ungodly amount of XP through that deal. I was about to enacted one myself if not.
Josh, it was a good post. Jedi, it was also something he'd been kind of working up to for a while, and presents some decent leads for him to run off and follow up on. It also gets him out of your way, without just being cut loose by an interruption and shuffled out the back door without much direction.
I think it's safe to say no one would actually be inconvenienced if I were to wave the ST magic wand and warp time a little bit. IC, the Sheriff will have just enough time to say, "ok cool... run with it", before suddenly getting called away by Gauge's enterance. I'm posting now.
And to answer your earlier question, you all have Jedi to thank for convincing me to give everyone another 50XP. But be aware, my NPCs would bite the dust XP-wise if I left their sheets static while everyone advances past them, so they'll be getting a boost as well. Proportionally speaking, you'll still be catching up to them though.

Two things. Josh, you may have to edit your post since you didn't wait for Claymore to actually to respond to me.
Yeah, I'm one of those "most frequent posters" Mostly I'd figured that unless Gauge and Gwen were going to start a really noisy fight out there with the guards, I'd have time to make Josh's little speech. I mean, figure you two have to move through Elysium to the Regent's office (which I think is upstairs), discover he and the Sheriff aren't actually there and then figure out where they've gone to. I doubt I'll get all that hacking I was talking about done, but I'll probably be able to get the speech in before you guys arrive. And if not, no biggie.

Re: OOC Chat
By the way,
I can go through and update everyone's XP, sure, but where did that 50 come from? And what does that have to do with building the Sheriff's sheet? I've had that one done since I introduced the character, it's the other Knight I haven't bothered to thaw out yet. And he's not there anyway.
By the way, you never answered my questions about your last IC post.
Jedi_Master_007 wrote:And can we have that 50 exp? It would be useful to use it prior to facing the Sheriff... and it gives you a chance to finally work up his sheet. =)

Claymore wrote:Jedi, just to clarify, Gauge waltzed right past the two guards, right? Also, augmenting physical attributes has to be 2 dice in one trait. It can't be broken up into 1 die in two traits. And those effects only last for one turn, not the entire scene, meaning it'd burn out by the time you need it anyway. It's reflexive though, so you're really better off spending it as soon as you're ready to use it.
I'd suggest instead, activating Vigor or Resilience. They last for the entire scene, meaning you can activate one now, and another later, and have them both running when you need them even though you can only spend one BP per turn. You might even have time to stack that blood buff on top of that. By the way, if you are just ignoring the guards, you might want to make a perception roll.
Re: OOC Chat
Dude, I've been pecking at those features for months, it's only recently I made them accessible.
Anyway, my priorities are the classes that just started, work, my girlfriend, and club activities. And I did start posting last night, but my connection dropped before I could finish.
I doubt that'll change your mind though, and frankly, I'm not even certain it should. But can I at least get access to my scripting work to copy it until I get those rights back? You're kind of pulling what the rpol Admins pulled on you when they locked you out of your own game. That stuff is many hours worth of work, and I'd like to hold onto it, even if I can't finish them yet. For one thing, it could actually serve as extra credit in one of my classes.

Re: OOC Chat
It always amuses me how Claymore's posting priorities are a little goofy. Instead of posting for the most frequent posters, he slows them down and posts for people who don't post for weeks on end, instead of keeping the frequent posters up to date and the game interesting.
Since he's too busy distracting himself with other things on this site then keeping his own game updated, he's lost that access. The next step up for him is being removed all together. This is a week after week problem with him. My patience are already tried to the next level. He catches the entire game up tonight or he loses it. His constant lack of progress and complaints from players (and admins) do more damage to the site then good.

Re: OOC Chat
I never posted my entrance because I had some questions about it, and because I specifically wanted to avoid an encounter at the door with another character. Gauge is on a mission, a mission I as a player have waited the better part of a year to finally get underway. I'm not going to be sidetracked at the door by another character who has no reason to approach me, and no way to stop me. Best case scenario, I blow right by you, ignoring you. Worst case scenario you try something and I just shoot you. I'm planning on anything from gun-butting the Sheriff in the face to blowing off his head with a shotgun. Do you really think I'm going to stop and smell the roses and purposefully sidetrack myself at the front door?
I once again point out, you got called away before I entered. I'm trying to make this as quick and painless as possible. Interrupting me with distractions for no good reason bogs down my efficiency and puts you in the way of harm that as previously noted, is undue.
On the risk of being a dick, quit over complicating things. It's starting to annoy me, making it more trouble then it's worth. I do not want to deal with you in character. I'm not going too, and if I'm forced too, it's going to be on hostile terms. I've waited long enough to get this ball rolling, and now that it's rolling, it's not going to stop until it reaches it's destination. If you insist on approaching me, or saying something to me, or trying to follow me, do so at your own risk.
And no... none of that plot point "I sold you some computer hardware at Best Buy! Remember me?" stuff either.

Re: OOC Chat
Clay I also have a question: Were Josh and the Regent present when Gauge walked in. I ask because at the end of the "Fish out of Water" thread I'd written it that Josh walked up to the security station just as Gauge and Gwen were entering. Then, at the start of Lions' Den, you had the Regent call Josh over from the end of a hallway. So I need to know the chronology of what's happened so I can post correctly.
