Taking the three-ringed binder Nathaniel didn’t looking inside right away, he would have time later. No doubt the other two in the car had things to do and were anxious to get on their way, protecting the city and all that bullshit. As long as he got the chance to be rid of these fur balls he was willing to play the part of new recruit.

Placing his free hand on the door handle he looked at Dick and asked, “Be there anythin else you need mon? Me be needin ta hit da road eh mon, got tings on me plate tonight it seems.”

Dick's impression of you didn't seem to change. For that matter, your impression of him didn't change either. Over the next few minutes there was alternating silence and back and forth questioning. You were getting the feeling that they weren't hazing you so much as trying to figure out just how capable you were. When it was done, they must have been impressed. The car was making it's return around the block. When it started pulling into the parking lot, Dick handed you a black three ring binder. "Alright pussnuts," he said as the car came to a stop under the streetlight in the middle of the small parking space.

"We think that's one of the places West Coast Steel stashes their war trophies. If you can get a good look, tell us what you think, we should be able to narrow down which one they use most."

Taking note of Dick’s obvious disregard for his pistol it was deposited back in the right pocket. Nathaniel had not meant to withdraw the weapon from his trench coat, but fitting his large 7-foot plus frame into the vehicle as usual took some finessing and he had forgot to let go on the grip. If Dick was indeed the military leader of the Midnight Guardians, he was probably fucking tough and surely much more powerful than the young Jamaican vampire.

The Setite expected this kind of treatment from the other clans, they feared the Serpents with due cause. Nathaniel’s own master had chosen the gang leader for Embrace as part of some plan to re-take Los Angeles from the Anarchs, a plan that the young Setite was not privy to knowing, yet. He cared little for neither the Elder’s plans nor the city of LA, reclaiming his lost heart from the Setite Temple in Los Vegas and securing his God’s resurrection were Nathaniel’s only real goals.

In the short term - short term being relative in vampiric terms - it was in the huge Setite’s best interest to work with, and use, the Midnight Guardians while the opportunity presented itself. With that in mind, Dick’s insults and curses rolled off Nathaniel and he showed no contempt or insolence towards the other vampire, “Yea mon, me be one of the baddest niggah’s prowlin Crenshaw these nights. Me’s wanna end those motha-fuckah Pit Bulls and me’s is willin ta do what it takes mon!” This last was said with such resolve the dark skinned giant hoped Dick and Madison understood his earnestness in this undertaking.

Dick shook your hand. His grip was iron and cold. You weren't really in pain, but you could feel his hands were calloused. They probably looked as scarred up as you did. "Good to meet you Nathaniel. Fuck you. I don't like bitch ass Setites in my city fucking around and getting themselves and their crew hacked to bits by Werewolves. It makes me look bad even if I had nothing to do with it. It attracts undue attention and makes all of the neighbors skittish. So when I say fuck you, I want you to understand where I am coming from. Got me? Now FUCK. YOU." Dick's grip on your hand tightened.

Even though you were hunched forward and carried a pistol, Dick didn't seem to regard it in any truly damaging fashion. Instead he continued to apply his pressure, leaning forward himself. He got nose to nose with you. His big ugly puss right next to yours. His nose had been broken multiple times, and his forehead had been split more then once, but his eyes were narrow and completely intent on making a point. "But I hear you want to do something about it. And that's a good start. I need to know. Are you capable of working as a team and following important directions from badass motherfuckers who have been doing this shit for decades, and in some cases, centuries? Can you follow predators and warriors who spend their nights honing the art of killing and practicing the skills of destruction? Do you really think you have what it takes to roll with me cockbreath?"

Nathaniel was relieved to be in the dark of the car. Away from the glare of the lights outside the big Setite was sitting hunched over even though his legs were laid out as much they could be with two other’s in the space with him. Though in much pain, nothing showed on the stoic features of Nathaniel’s scared face.

His eyes followed the form of the shadowed woman. ‘Madison’ was ones tasty morsel, both was nothing of interest to Nathaniel who only had eyes for this little sister Katianna. His passion for her was something they had nurtured since the two were children and other than the Dark God Set, Nathaniel cared for nothing or no one as much.

Coming back from the dark lustful thought always brought on when his sister came to mind, Dick’s paw was extended his way expectantly. Shaking hands wasn’t something vampires seemed to do often, but these up-tight, militant, ‘Law Enforcers’-types respected formality and straight forwardness.

Taking Dick’s paw in his own massive scared, dark skinned hand, he gave the man a firm handshake. The giant Setite replied to the other vampire’s introduction, “Eh mon, me be Nathaniel.”

Inside the back of the car you saw what you thought was two people, but it was dark. It was way too dark. It was supernaturally dark. It was the kind of dark you dealt with when you met Lasombra. If it was Lasombra, then it made sense it was someone of importance in the Midnight Guardians was in the back of that car.

Cool. When you got in the car slowly drove off. The darkness didn't fade but your eyes adjusted slowly. As a Setite, you preferred the darkness. One of the figures was Madison, you presumed, because the shadow had incredibly long legs. The other wasn't in shadow form, but he was concealed by it. "Name is Dick." He said, sticking out his big hairy paw.

It was incredibly painful looking past the glaring headlights for the big Setite, but it was nothing compared to what he had gone through at the Temple near Los Vegas when he was Embraced. Nathaniel bore the pain while he watched the car door. When he heard the order given, his first instinct was to tell the disembodied voice to go fuck-himself, but he didn’t think it would go over well if this was Dick his contact.

He didn’t think west Coast Steele would use this sort of tactic, but just in case he burned a point of blood to boost his reflexes and firmed his grip on the Glock17 readying it if needed. Moving around to the side where the door was ajar, Nathaniel stooped to look inside to see whom he was speaking to before he got into the vehicle.

The door only opened so far. It was ominous and eerie. It was dark enough on the inside that you couldn't see anything, but a raspy, gravelly voice grumbled the two words you needed to hear. "Get in."

The big Setite decided he wasn’t going to look like some coward hiding in the shadows, and since his cover had been seen through, Nathaniel stepped forward walking right in front of the Mercedes. His hand in the left pocket of his trench coat was grasping the Glock17 he had there while he casually leaned to the right on his carved walking stick. Always keeping in eye on the opening door.

Praying he wasn’t about to be gunned down for his bravo, Nathaniel spoke to the car, “Well it be about time mon.” sounding as though he was trying to hold back sarcasm.

The vehicle slowed as it drew closer to your position and then turned into the parking lot. It circled twice and then stopped to the right of your position with those annoyingly bright headlights pointed in your direction. The car was a black Mercedes with insanely dark tinted windows. It was weird to you, perhaps even a bit surreal. The vehicle didn't seem bothered in the slightest by your use of Obfuscate.

While contemplating, the driver's side rear passenger door cracked open just a bit...

Backing away from the streetlight, the Setite used one of the gifts granted by his God. Obfuscate would help the large Jamaican disappear into the smallest shadow. If this car was that of this Dick guy he was supposed to be meeting here fine, but if it happened to be the cops, the gangbanger would just as soon see the car keep moving.

The guy just kept walking, ignoring you. This only succeeded in irking you more. But then you were distracted by headlights. They were the insanely bright - notice me - variety. The vehicle they were coming from wasn't a mere civilian one, this you knew. It was coming at you far too slowly.

The massive Jamaican was beginning to think that maybe Madison and the Guardian’s had set him up. He was pretty vulnerable out in a lit parking lot the open like that, what if those West Coast Steele fuckers had been watching him? Following him waiting for an opportunity just like this to finish the big Setite off.

Nathaniel wondered who this guy in the pretty outfit was? Could he be Dick his contact? He was pretty big, not nearly as big as the Setite who stood a huge 7’8”, but taller than most he had seen Where his guy wore nice suits and shinny footwear, Nathaniel was clad in his usual tight fitting red fishnet shirt showing off his various ritual scars and burns. A pair of black combat cargo pants, shit-kicker combat boots and a gray trench coat. In the Setite’s right hand was a carved walking stick as thick as a baseball bat, yet it looked tiny in the gigantic Jamaican’s massive hand.

Nathaniel’s left hand was in his trench coat pocket firmly wrapped around his Glock17 poised and ready to be drawn if needed. He was about to approach the other man when the ‘Armani’ turned his back on the Setite, usually not a smart move in any case, and began to walk away.

Being somewhat of a bully and having a little twisted side Nathaniel decided to speak up, “Hey mon. Ya don like da company mon?”

James waits with a casual air about him despite his meticulous appearance, dressed in a black suit with dark-gray pinstriping possibly Armani, obviously expensive. He stands at an impressive 6'7" with an equally intimidating build. He notes Nathaniel's approach with a polite nod, emerald eyes ever watchful, though that gaze seems more intense as it becomes apparent their meeting may not be incidental. He then takes a glance at his watch, a flash of silver and crystals, obviously worth more than any of the passing kine's yearly wages. He takes another glance to Nathaniel before he turns and starts down the sidewalk, carrying himself with an easy grace despite his size.

James: You'd contacted the Midnight Guardians almost immediately upon your arrival. You had been connected by the associate of an associate, and were able to run into the most enigmatic of all of Caine's children, Kelsey. Kelsey was interesting if for no other reason that she was one of the childre of Samuel, the founder of the warlike Salubri bloodline noted for being both angels of mercy and angels of death during the dark ages. If the fact you'd get to work with a historic oddball from a bloodline so rare it was thought long extinct weren't enough, Dick Shark's reputation was. You could look past the part he is Ex-Sabbat based on his resume alone. While most Ventrue sneered at the notion of calling him a clanmate, the General in you noted he was a tactician and strategic monster centuries ahead of his age.

Nathaniel: You got your call. It was four minutes early but Derek had cleaned up the mess as well as you could have expected him too. For the sake of security, you moved to another of your safe houses - or at least you were in the middle of traveling there when your phone went off. It was an unavailable number. The man on the other end was gruff and militaristic. You sort of got the impression he was a drill sergeant or something.

Both of you: You were given an address, which turned out to be a bus terminal. You were told to be there in twenty minutes, or to forget about help from the Guardians. Naturally you both made it, though not exactly together, and not exactly on time. James was early by about five minutes and Nathaniel was late by about three - stupid traffic light and waiting police officer. In any event, the bus terminal was closed for the night, and only a single streetlight illuminated the 8 car parking lot. The place was desolate and deserted. A total of three cars passed, none of which slowed to even take a second look at either of you. Right about then was when you both started getting the eerie vampire vibe coming from each other. You also both got the impression that you were both here for the same thing...
