Deciding it was now time to get the hell out of there, Nathaniel began to move away from the gaping hole that was once the trophy house. Staying to the shadows and making liberal use of his Obfuscate his movements were no doubt largely ignored, either because everyone around was ducking to avoid getting shot or blown up, and the rest would be starring in gawking wonder at the flaming wreckage on the corner lot.

Once a block or so away, the large Jamaican pulled out his radio and ordered his crew to disperse because the Po-po were no doubt on their way and for Derek to pick him up. He then turned off the radio and opened his cell phone to call the Midnight Guardian’s to let them know what was going on, though they probably already had some idea…

There must have been a dozen or so of them, at least. There was even more of them. The patches on the back of all of the jackets took a second to identify. But when you did... this is what you saw.



After the bikes systematically lined up in front of the house, there was a pause, only a few seconds, and then a host of automatic gun fire lit the building up. It was the rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat, and Ka-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-pop, and ra-ka-ka-ka-ka-kat, and cha-chunk-blast-cha-chunk-blast-cha-chunk-blast that deafened everyone within probably a mile radius. The building's windows were shot out. The door was ripped to shreds. Shrubs out front were cut down. The one light that was on exploded from somewhere.

And then... and then the back of the truck opened up. Two more guys came out. They were both holding what you thought were missile launchers. When the first one fired, you definitely knew it was a missile launcher. When the building exploded, sending bits of brick, wood, plaster, and glass in all directions it took an effort of will for you not to flinch and hit the dirt yourself. When the second missile was fired, exploding the already exploded building, it was just insult to injury. At this point it was overkill.

Then, having proven their point, the bikers revved and split. They lick-et-y split too. The guys with missile launchers got back in the truck. The lead bike peeled out. The whole procedure was over in like, 30 seconds. Damn if you didn't feel like an asshole who showed up late to a gang-bang. The girl had already finished off the other dudes and cleaned up while you were standing there holding your dick in your hands. This was a lot of shit, and it didn't seem to make much sense. It would take some serious figuring out. Somebody came, picked something up, then bikers came, and blew the place up. Dick knew about the place and just as well, it was supposedly a stash house for a local werewolf cult.

And somewhere you knew one of the neighbors who had seen this had called the police. It was time to move. It was time to figure this mess out.

Turning off both the radio and cell phone, the large Jamaican remained motionless taking full advantage of the surrounding darkness to hide from the Bikers. He decided it wasn’t a good idea to stay and watch, but if he wanted to earn a place with the Guardians he probably needed as much up to date info as he could get.

You watched the license plate. You noticed with ease that it was an out of state plate that you thought read it was from Florida or Georgia. You weren't exactly sure. An out of state plate meant that it was probably a stolen car, stolen tag, or maybe even both. It was easy enough to figure that trying to track the car through an out of state tag would be more trouble then it was worth.

Your men at least did what they were told, and remained quiet... until, until... you heard it too. It was the unmistakable sound of high performance motorcycle engines. Not crotch rockets. No, these were the Harley Davidson variety. It sounded like about a dozen of them. Your thoughts were confirmed when your radio came to life. You only heard it halfway through the message though because it was turned down and because you were halfway into your call to Madison.

Just as you realized the message was coming through, you seen the first pair of headlights. Then another pair behind them, and another, and another... and another... And then what looked like a truck bringing up the rear. Nearby two sets of lights in two houses next to the one you were at kicked on. One across the street did the same. The bikers didn't seem to notice or to care though, and fanned out in front of the house.

You knew this couldn't be good...

From the shadows, the big Setite watched as the ‘trophy’ house was ransacked. He didn’t make a move, stood stone still to make full use of his Gifts of Set to remain hidden within the darkness. He was careful to observe the car and it’s occupants’ appearance, paying particular attention to the license plate and the driver.

Once the car sped past Nathaniel spoke into the radio, “De car be leavin, me want’s yous to do nuthin but watch ‘em drive by, ya hear me mon?!?” He wasn’t going to endanger his boys anymore than needed, he was only ordered to check this place out and report back what he found, nothing more.

Deciding Dick would probably want this info right away, the huge Jamaican retrieved his cell from his pocket and tried to check in with the Midnight Guardians.

It was hard to see what was going on inside the building except that there seemed to be some flashing lights. After observing for a few second you realized it was flashlights, and the flashing was just the lights passing over walls and windows. Whoever it was, they were a bunch of amateurs. The car was a different matter entirely.

As you watched it, you noticed that the driver kept it running. He kept the lights out, and while waiting, he was careful to back the car in so that all he needed to do was drive. Almost as fast as it had started, the operation was over. The men that went inside came back out. Their flashlights were turned off. Two of them were now carrying backpacks. They all got in the car, and it sped off almost as fast as it had gotten there.

The whole operation seemed to be painfully long, but in reality it took less then 90 seconds. Something about it wasn't sitting quite right with you either...

Fucking morons were supposed to warn him before the car snuck up. Maybe black men weren’t enough to draw attention, but one almost eight feet tall would stick out in their memories if they had cause to try and remember. Which, if this plan didn’t go the way he hoped and those new arrivals don’t leave shortly, would give them cause to recognize the Setite. That would put him square on their radar and make him their next main target.

With this in mind the huge Jamaican quietly ducked behind a large bush and clicked on the radio, “Me said to warn me BEFORE day come mon! Wake da fuck up mon before me makes sure’s ya ner need ta sleep ‘gin. Ya understand me mon?!?!” Without waiting for a response he continued, “Me wants ya to ‘ave a car runnin, me’s gonna call for it an me want it ‘ere to get me right fast, ya understand me!” It wasn’t a question and they knew it.

Turning the volume on his radio down to help avoid other people hearing it, Nathaniel looked through the bush at the target house and watches it to see if he could learn anything about what was going on in there, and if those West Coast Steel furballs were going to be leaving soon.

The car ignored you. So did the people in it. Apparently a lone black man on the streets in a more run down section of L.A. wasn't as big a deal as it might have been in other places. All the same you decided to be a bit more careful with your approach. Taking some extra time, you waited and then pressed the button on your radio to comment...

If those people in the car were West Coast Steel, the Setite knew his crew couldn’t handle them without some help. His teaching at the temple in Nevada showed him the power of the Garu. His Master had made Nathaniel participate in the destruction of one that had been captured by the priests for educating the acolyte Serpents.

That fucking furball had put up a damn hard fight, it had ended the unlives of 4 of the 10 Neonate Setites the young Jamaican was sent with. It was Nathaniel’s sheer size that had saved him, the Werewolf tore large chunks from his hide. The Setite was in Torpor for a week and consumed the blood of four mortals to heal the wounds, but the scarring remained to this night. Largely hidden within the network of ritual scars and burn marks criss-crossing his torso.

Nathaniel decided to be patient and tried to casually slip into darkness. He didn’t want to move too quickly, it might draw their attention, but if he just wasn’t there anymore they might drive by without notice. If not, he’d probable have to run fucking fast to save his own his hide. He waited to see if the red car was going to stop notice him before he responded to the radio, turning the volume down to muffle the sound some more.

You paused long enough to look around on your way there. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nadda. There was nobody even watching you through a window in another building. As you got closer to the building, you realized that perhaps your perception abilities weren't the greatest, because it was only after you passed it that a red car matching the description of the one you were looking for drove by you towards the building.

Fuck.

Right then was when one of your radios came on. "Yo boss dude. That car is showing up. There are four dudes in it, plus some chick driving. What do you want us to do?"

As West Coast Steel’s trophy house was on a corner, Nathaniel approached from the back of the building. He hoped there would be more shadows he could make use of, as well less security. He was particularly weary of electronic surveillance devices. No doubt, if these furballs were half the mercenaries they were described to be they had to have some high tech shit to protect their goodies.

'Nilla told you he would be right on it. You knew he would be. Crazy ass white-boy showed more heart and spirit then half your niggas most of the time. By the time you had parked, you still hadn't heard back from Derrek. You waited five more minutes, parked. You spent two more cussing his black ass out with every vulgar word your temperment let you conjure up. By the nineth minute, you had already called him back twice. There was still no answer.

Finally, after 14 minutes, Derrek called you back. His car had a flat, and where he was at there was no signal on his phone. He told you all of the boys told him they were in place. So off you went to snoop around. You meandered around, taking a lazy, wide approach.

Holy Shit! As if that lead paid off, that little honky ‘Nilla was always full of surprises. Nathaniel knew it was worth having him around no matter how much the rest of the Mambas ride him for being white. The giant Jamaican had never imagined Set would be so generous as to provide his follower with so many opportunities in one night.

To rush forward into this headstrong and unprepared would both be a waist of good information and a favourable situation, but would also dishonour the Dark God. Nathaniel told ‘Nilla to continue digging into the beer companies business information, or anything else about the brewery he could and hung up as the sirens came into earshot.

He readied his Glock17 on his lap as the cop car sped past in case it turned around, but when the ambulance followed he relaxed his grip on the handgun and watched as the lights drove out of sight around the corner. He hoped this had nothing to do with his little ‘mission’ for the Midnight Guardians. He continued driving towards his destination and reactivated his cell and made the final call to start his plan in motion a he began to close on the West Coast Steel’s trophy house. Several blocks away he pulled the Escalade into a shadowed curbside and tried to park the vehicle as inconspicuously as possible. Getting out on foot he started to make his way the last few blocks keeping his eyes open for anyone on the street. Nathaniel hoped his boys were ready because he was heading close to their target.

You listened to 'Nilla while you drove down the road a bit more. He was telling you that he had done some searching on the internet and that West Point Steel did in fact, own a micro-brewery out here in L.A. It was a new place, only established within the last two years. There had been a financial hiccup, along with some zoning issues, and the brewery was left alone. It had been forgotten about by the city government, and presumably, had been a dormant warehouse ever since.

Somewhere nearby and behind you there was the sound of sirens. It was joined by another set. In a few seconds while you were half wondering "WTF" and half wondering if you were going to need to shoot a bitch, a police car zoomed passed you. Right behind it by about two seconds was an ambulance. They were headed down the road in your direction. They had continued ahead to the next huge intersection two or three blocks down. You could barely see the flashing lights as they made a right.

Looking at the cell display of his cell, Nathaniel muttered to himself, “Oh shit mon, me almost forgot bout dat motherfucka.” He chuckled at himself when he though about the ‘mission’ to check out that brewery. He pressed on the answer button and spoke into the phone, “Ya mon, who be dis an whacha want mon?”

Alright. You sent out the message. You knew Derrek would take care of it. Not more then three minutes down the road, you made a left at a light, bypassing a pair of police cars pulling some bitch in a white mustang over. That's when 'Nilla called your phone.

He couldn’t believe he had gotten himself into this shit. Walking right up to, possibly into some fucking FurBag’s ‘trophy room’ wasn’t really something he’d ever pictured himself doing in the service of Set. Bringing the Garu under the Dark God’s influence was more his style, turn these mercenaries into a tool for Set’s Army of Darkness. Maybe there was a way to accomplish this goal and satisfy the Guardian’s need to put an end to West Coast Steele’s rampage through vampiric society.

Deciding that he would like some back up just in case there was any trouble, Nathaniel pulled out his cell phone and began calling a couple of serious boys who could handle themselves in a tight spot. Some gangsters as hard as nails and smart enough to follow orders and keep a low profile while making sure the job gets done. The Setite’s plan was pretty simple he’d thought, have his boys watch all the roads surrounding the two story war trophy house a couple of blocks away for the red BMW. Meanwhile he approaches the target from a couple of blocks away on foot while a couple of his gang bangers stay outside and watch both the house and the giant Jamaican’s back.

Hanging up after the last call, Nathaniel started his vehicle. Leaving the lonely parking lot, the black Escalade turned in the direction of the trophy house. He really wanted to get this over and done with and get back to his personal business.

Ok. These guys did their homework. First was a map of the area from above. It had about a dozen photos of the place. In two of the photos is had a red BMW roll up to the place. There were photos of a single hispanic man. He didn't look like much in your book but the file suggested he could be dangerous. The place was a simple 2 store building on a corner with decent lawn and fence to separate the back and side from neighbors.

With some stealth you could do this by yourself. With some homies and a bit of luck, you could do it in five minutes. Yeah. You had this.

Turning to his custom made black Escalade the big Setite opened the driver side door and sat down comfortably behind the steering wheel. The vehicle was specifically made to fit his huge frame so he was able to stretch out his long legs and prop the three-ringed binder upon them. Opening the binder and taking a look through its contents, Nathaniel wanted to know what his ‘assignment’ was going to take him.

Dick didn't say anything. That let you know it was straight to get out. You got out of the car and after a brief, uncomfortable pause, the car circled around and then left. It left you on your own. You could feel you were the only one around.
