Factions & Coteries Empty Sects & Clans Breakdown

Post by Ac1ds0ld13r Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:05 am

First thing, LA is very highly divided among its members by Coterie first and foremost. Still, there are a few things worth mentioning with the clans and how they are represented in LA. All of the Sects of Vampires find some sort of representation in LA, to some extent. This thread will break down the Sects and their representation first, then the clans.

THE CAMARILLA: The Camarilla is of course represented in LA. There are rumors of Archons in deep cover within the ranks of the Anarchs. However, ninety percent of these rumors are just that, rumors, with no basis in fact. Any influence the Camarilla can exert in LA is very weak, at least for now, and while it only makes sense that the Camarilla would have an Archon or two in the area to observe the situation here, it is unlikely their missions extend beyond observation for the time being. The Camarilla, as a general rule, is spread too thin on the East Coast to bother trying to bolster the ranks of hidden agents enough to raise any kind of offensive to take the city. Supply lines for these agents are long, and communication is another problem as Archons here would be deep cover, and any communication with their sponsoring Justicars would be too risky. Still there is a growing rumor that a noted Archon has been seen in LA... Given this Archon's last known whereabouts were Las Vegas, this is plausible. If this Archon has been sent by the Camarilla to LA, it also means the sect as a whole is changing tactics...

THE SABBAT: Its widely known that the Sabbat maintains a presence in LA. Their incursions and nomad packs have long been a thorn in the side of the Anarchs of LA and every year the city loses members to either Final Death or recruitment at the hands of these packs. The Sabbat presence here is very much underground, though recently (within the last month or so) Nomad Packs have stepped up their presence in LA. It is suspected that a power player among the Sect has arrived to take control of the Sabbat forces in LA. With a newly renewed organization and change of tactics among the packs, this is cause for considerable concern among the Anarchs. Many Anarchs raising the Sabbat alarm in LA are citing that Sabbat recruitment attempts, and those who fall at the Sect's hands no longer appear to be random targets as evidence that the Sabbat is getting ready to launch a major offensive in LA.

THE ANARCHS: Los Angeles is a city by and for Anarchs, make no mistake, this city is very firmly in the hands of those that have been dubbed Autarkis by the Camarilla, at least on the surface. Inner turmoil with a change in over all leadership, its Coterie heavy governing system, and an overall lack of cooperation between the Coterie has resulted in a city ripe for subversion and political scheming. The other sects have begun to prey on this situation. More, the known Cathayan presence has changed its tactics from simple observation to something of a more aggressive bent. Where once the two groups could meet in peace; now there are only very select Anarchs who can run into the vampires from the Orient and hope the encounter does not turn hostile. The Anarchs are theoretically lead by The Kingpin, a self styled Nosferatu of considerable power, but even this title is a glorified mediator in practice. While The Kingpin wields considerable personal and given power from the Coteries to the benefit of the city; even his influence over the residents of LA is nothing compared to that of a Prince or Archbishop in their respectful domains. The Kingpin is very aware that his influence ends precisely at the end of his arms, and he must operate heavily through agents, and those loyal to him to maintain the sanctity and peace in LA.

THE CATHAYANS: The Kuei-Jin, as they style themselves, have grown considerably in numbers over the last 10 years. Where once, they consisted of a small handful of "Ambassadors" they now boast a few large, and extremely powerful, "packs" of their own. More, these packs are highly organized, highly mobile, and very dangerous. While they still maintain a select few amicable relationships with select members of the Anarchs, these seem to be handled on a case by case, pack by pack, vampire by vampire basis. And where one Anarch was widely accepted by many of the Cathayan packs, she may find all but two or three individuals out right deadly hostile towards her. Something big has changed in Cathayan leadership and their mission seems to have moved into another phase. Whatever they are planning has caused considerable alarm among all the sects represented in the area. But even for these vampires, all is not what it seems. Power players in the Cathayans seek to subvert any glory from the victories won, and claim it as their own to gain the approval of much respected elders back home. The tactics of the Sabbat are particularly gruesome and unnervingly effective in crippling individual vampires caught without the support of their brethren, and the Sabbat always makes sure it has the advantage of numbers. For now however, the Cathayans have not lost anyone of particular importance and power, but as would be expected the Sabbat attacks grow increasingly bold and brutal. Indeed the most effective resistance the Cathayans have encountered has been brought to them by the Sabbat.

THE CLANS: Again, LA is primarily divided among Coterie NOT Clan lines. As a result information about the over all organization and motivations of individual clans will be limited, because quite frankly, it is limited. Individuals turn to their brothers and sisters in their coterie to get things done before turning to their clans.

Assamite: The Assamites are obviously present in LA, and likely making a fortune on contracts to take out a myriad of targets. However the political turmoil prevents the Rafiq from exerting itself to make a solid appearance. Instead, those in the know, know how to get hold of a contact who knows someone that knows someone that knows an Assamite looking for work in LA.

-List individuals

Brujah: Single handedly, the most dominant clan in all of LA. If any clan would have some sort of over all plan for LA, this would be the clan in a position to have one. However, those claiming descent from the clan of warrior-poets, are entirely too fractious amongst themselves. The very fact that the city is so heavily divided among Coterie lines is a result of the rivalries among the members of this clan.

Caitiff: Caitiff make up a surprisingly small portion of the Anarchs in LA, probably because some of the Brujah are quick to "adopt" notable Caitiff into the clan. Still their numbers are enough to be worth mentioning here. Obviously there is no organizational efforts, and the Caitiff in LA who are not adopted into a Coterie or another clan, are either very thin blooded, or have pissed off enough people that a good chunk of their nights are spent dodging would be killers.

Gangrel: The Gangrel in LA are few and far between. Most find the sterilized glass and steel of LA to be a bit too claustrophobic for their liking, still LA is a sprawling city, and there are a few that make havens inside the city, and even manage to maintain strong enough relationships to be parts of various Coteries. As always, this clan is not organized into any formal entity, and the loyalties and politics vary widely between individual Gangrel.

Malkavian: Though there are a select few members of the Lunatics throughout the world that have managed to avoid the destruction of the clan overall as their Antideluvian fell, their numbers have dwindled and there is no organization to speak of. Many suspect that the Malkavian Madness Network was shattered when their progenitor was destroyed as a result the clan's shared perception is gone, and the few Malkavians in LA are best handled on a case by case, psychosis by psychosis basis.

Nosferatu: The Nosferatu are numerous, and being the clan in power has its perks given how tightly knit the clan as a whole tends to be. Nosferatu are the clan most likely to encounter each other and have a genuinely non-hostile encounter, even though rivalries exist, given their particular curse, things between clanmates tend to stay at a minimum, polite.

Toreador: Unsurprisingly the Clan of the Rose has a large number of Anarchs in LA. Their numbers indeed, rival the Brujah, and many Artistes and Poseurs claim high esteem among their peers in the Coteries. The rivalries are ferocious between members, but they still manage to come together as a clan once or twice a year to preen and show off their latest creations or shoot the shit in themed parties.

Tremere: The last known bastion of Camarilla influence in LA, there is a highly, highly protected and guarded Tremere Chantry somewhere in LA. However the few Tremere in LA that are openly acknowledged as Tremere, are still fiercely loyal to their Clan, even if not the Camarilla. Some manage to insinuate themselves into different Coteries, but for the most part the Tremere of LA are a non-entity, focused on whatever it is that has caused them not to abandon their Chantry when the Camarilla left. Rumors abound of deals with Cathayans, and observing the situation for the Camarilla. If any Tremere know the real story, none are telling. Recently there has been a shaking up in the clan, and its known members are treading lightly in their night to night activities, almost as if the Warlock leadership has taken a new interest in its forgotten little Coven in LA...

Ventrue: The Ventrue in LA are just as wildly varied in their politics and loyalties as any other clan in LA. However they also present one of the more organized groups. They, like the Toreador, still manage to get together for the appropriate preening and talks, similar to the fabled Meetings of the Board, held by Ventrue in Camarilla held cities. These meetings differ slightly, with the eldest not necessarily being the one running the show. Instead its usually the eldest member of the most dominant coterie at the time. How exactly this is determined is unknown, but it probably involves blood shed, Dominate, and other less sundry methods.

Lasombra: Lasombra in LA are clearly a member of the Sabbat, and their primary focus in LA is the Sabbat. This clan has also had its leadership shaken up when Priscus Han Changhui arrived to take control of Sabbat forces in LA and defeated the long standing Archbishop of Los Angeles in a quick, and bloody duel for the city. After taking control the city was quickly reorganized and the first directives of a much more aggressive plan were sent out to the Nomadic Packs roaming LA and the surrounding lands. As one would expect, this clan is firmly in control of the Sabbat, and rivalries abound between them, sometimes boiling into blood shed, but none have dared rise to challenge for the highest position of Archbishop. The one Han claims is "temporarily" being held until "the situation here can be brought in line with sect directives."

Factions & Coteries Empty COTERIE INFORMATION (It's All Updated! Whew!)

Post by Jedi_Master_007 Tue Apr 14, 2009 1:51 am

Listed here are the Anarch kindred factions in L.A. These are dominant groups, but are not necessarily single coteries. In the case of some, more then one coterie may be involved. Furthermore, the factions do not represent individual kindred of importance or station.

The Loyalist Movement - Led by the Brujah Vincent, the Loyalists were once the dominant group of kindred in L.A. The Loyalists are dedicated to the elder who grew in both age and power as an Idealist but who also had a tendency for violence that ultimately put him at odds with the Camarilla.

Once forced into being an Anarch, Vincent realized his true calling. After a quick decade he was able to usurp control away from both the Sabbat and Setites who already held sway in Los Angeles. It didn't take long for the fickle young kindred of the west coast to see Vincent as their very own Dark Knight - and it was true. Vincent's idealist ways brought kindred of a sophisticated, academic, scholarly nature while his vicious and efficient violence appealed to like minded brutes and thugs.

For nearly three decades, Vincent's word was law. Disputes were settled in grizzly fashion at Fight Club where he reigned as champion, easily defeating any and all challengers. Vincent's straight forward, iron fisted leadership had it's weaknesses though. He had little influence outside of his domain and more then enough enemies that when kindred of a less combative and more manipulative nature showed up to stake their own claims, little could be done to curb their influence let alone stop them from bickering. Soon these kindred played their petty games of sabotage and prestation with each other forgetting that they were Anarchs, not card carrying members of the Camarilla. Finally both the Sabbat and Cathayans worked themselves into the fringes of Los Angeles. By then rivalries and personal vendettas had grown out of hand, rotting the Dark Knight's utopia from the inside.

The arrival of Edge and her unrelenting, abrasive, overzealous rebellion was in fact both a blessing and a curse. While it forced the Loyalists to the back burner, it also allowed them to consolidate their resources. The straw that broke the camel's back though was Vincent's pathetic defeat by Edge in Fight Club. Vincent's own power and influence curbed, he wisely realized his time had both come and gone as he quietly faded into the background. While the Loyalists are fewer and fewer every passing year, they are still quite influential in regards to both age and personal power. The Loyalists don't openly defy their new leadership but it is understood they don't support it (Edge) either. The Loyalists constantly seek to reestablish themselves and their former leader to past glory.

Requirements - Brawl 2, Dodge 2, Academics 2, Etiquette 1, Occult 1, & Politics 1

Bonus - Additional Discipline Merit (Potence, Celerity, or Fortitude), Focused (+1 Bonus on Willpower checks to avoid outside influences), Bonus dot of Academics, Etiquette, Occult, or Politics

Penalty - Fall From Grace - Because the Loyalists have fallen out of true popularity, they suffer a -1 penalty to all dice pools involving any attempt to influence or intimidate any kindred in L.A. with a reputation of their own.

Favored Attribute - Intelligence or Stamina

Members - Amy Brown (Bru), Rocket McQueen (Bru), Georgia Lawson (Bru), Vincent Dixon (Bru), Happy Morales (Ven), Igor Filitov (Nos), Nina Mullox (Tor), Quentin Jean-Philipe' d'Orleans (Ven), Sonya Mace (Gan)

Licentia Proeliator - Licentia Proeliator translates from Latin literally into "Freedom Fighters." The Proeliator see themselves as true Anarchs. They are not interested in breaking the chains of the Camarilla only to come to LA and forge new ones. They are a mixed lot with violent Anarchists, militants who claim freedom as their cause, and politicos interested in ensuring that the "government" of Kindred in LA is maintained with reasonable checks and balances. They have a small claim in the local government, mainly through lobby groups, and happen to be the most diverse (looking only at interests and influence) of the coteries in the city.

Proeliator's can literally come from any concept, and in most cases all that is required for membership is publicly stating you are a member. The Proeliator's have a hard time dealing with the powers that be in LA because of their natural desire to shrug off any rule. To them, the original Anarch cause was one of Independent Kindred doing what they pleased with their immortality provided it did not endanger other kindred... Despite being so diverse the bulk of the population is Idealist Brujah, which means they are violent...

Still thanks to the more clear headed members the coterie as a whole is one of the less likely to lash out with violence in a feud.

Requirements - None

Bonus - 2 free ability dots, or 1 University Influence, and 1 Willpower dot

Penalty - None

Favored Attribute - Dexterity or Perception

Members Timmamba Kendall (Bru), Alexzander King (Bru), Andrew Alladin (Ven), George Macaroam (Tre), Pete Pollock (Tor)

TEAM NOS - Team Nos isn't so much a dominant Anarch political faction as it is a long standing coterie grown too powerful and too large to not be noted. Team NOS is chaotic, influential, fast, and highly mobile. Like their name suggests, Team NOS is a coterie of street racers that live on the edge, following only the rules they set for themselves.

Often overlooked or easily dismissed as knucklehead Toreador too unstable to be reliable, too trigger happy for their own good, too wimpy for Fight Club, and finally too aloof to be taken seriously, Ken and Chris have proven time and again that one does not ever underestimate the power of two highly motivated Toreadors with shotguns (and fast cars). Nos's primary area of influence revolves around anything related to illegal, underground racing but they're also known to have all sorts of connections up and down the west coast. Because they're insanely popular all over the United States, the leadership of the coterie regularly travels. The destination is rarely as important as the cargo being smuggled.

Membership into Team NOS isn't as exclusive as it once was, but having a fast car and being able to drive is still a must. However, their operation has grown to the point that it simply isn't effective for it to be managed by a small group, and as a result, small Team NOS cells have started popping up in key locations around the country.

Interestingly enough, over the last several months there have been quite a few rumors circulating among the various kindred circles concerning NOS's leadership. It was only recently (within the last three weeks) that the coterie validated some of these rumors. Now it is a fact. NOS is after the Brujah Eve's blood. They've made it public that they're seeking her capture (and likely subsequent destruction) and have gone so far as to post a five million dollar reward.

Led by the Camarilla's 9th most wanted, Ken and Chris, they come fast, hard and always leave chaos and mayhem in their wake. Lately they've taken a more centralized role in L.A. and have used their operation to take over large parts of San Pedro. TEAM NOS is always on the lookout for new recruits. Candidates typically have to be great drivers and a good shot. They can't be afraid to get their hands dirty either. Oh, and one more thing. You have to drive a cool car!

Requirements - Drive 3, Firearms 2, & a Sportscar

Bonus - Crack Driver & Daredevil Merits

Penalty - Hunted (Camarilla Authorities) flaw

Favored Attribute - Dexterity or Wits

Members - Ken Smith (Tor), Chris Jones (Tor), Tank (Bru), Gauge (Bru), Carysa Moreno (Bru), Jesse Patrick (Gan), & J.J. Costigan (Bru)

The Desert Spiders - Desert Spiders - Having been in L.A. less then six months, The Desert Spiders are a small time coterie made up of all Brujah who just starting to cut their teeth. They've recently earned some recognition for pulling off a dozen or so jewelry store and pawn shop robberies over in East L.A., and their brute, Diego, has shown that he can hold his own in Fight Club. If the group could somehow increase it's numbers and take over a substantial sized neighborhood it would surely gain the respect it's leader, Hector Hernandez is looking for. The Desert Spiders haven't really made any recruitment offers, but if a would be gang member had something to offer he'd probably be welcomed without too much hassle.

Requirements - Brujah, Streetwise 2

Bonus - Lucky merit

Penalty - None

Favored Attribute - Strength or Charisma

Members - Hector Hernandez (Bru), Diego DeFlorez (Bru), Rita Slyzinski (Bru), Rosa Perez (Bru), Wayne Hess (Bru)

Royal Blood - Often called "Suicide Queens" behind their back, the Royal Blood are an all girl clique once led by Tera Leveaux, a Tremere who proved her Anarch allegiance by staking a member of her city's primogen council and fleeing with her coterie into L.A. Once known for their money and their connections to the legal scene, many kindred with criminal backgrounds often found the Royal Blood rather useful. However, after the recent, somewhat painful, split where the rising Esmerelda claimed leadership after ousting Tera, The Royal Blood have become little more then a coterie of spoiled teenaged schoolgirls.

Through constant bickering and one-upsmanship the coterie has put itself into a corner. Nobody really likes them because of their prissy, elitest attitudes. Nobody really needs them because they no longer focus on influence hoarding, and more importantly, Royal Blood seems to give everyone the notion that they're a step in the Camarilla's direction instead of becoming a beacon for other Anarchs. Having said that, Royal Blood is always on the lookout for good talent, but to truly be one of them you've got to be an attractive, socially adept girl preferably from clans Toreador, Ventrue, or Lasombra.

Requirements - Female, Charisma 3, Appearance 3, & Etiquette, Leadership, or Subterfuge 2

Bonus - -1 difficulty on all Charisma or Appearance based rolls

Penalty - Expendable (Let's face it, nobody likes you) Flaw

Favored Attribute - Appearance or Manipulation

Members - Esmerelda de Flamingo (Tor), Whisper Knight (Tor), Brooke Pierce (Tor), Cameran Corenza (Tor), Elektra Saint (Las), & Rebecca Mason (Tor)

The Millionaire Club - Once one of the most powerful coteries in Los Angeles, the Millionaire's Club is now a mere pitifully dismal shadow of it's former self. The Millionaire's Club lost it's leader, and founder, Corwin Benald II, and his two childre (Huey and Benny "Turtle King" Tortiose) when they were ambushed by West Coast Steel. Two more members were piacked off by Cathayans since then and a third deserted just over a week ago. While lack of numbers is as much to fault as not, Yvonne has proven she isn't a bad leader, but that she isn't a good one either.

What's left of the coterie consists of some of the wealthiest vampires in LA. Considered by many to represent the status quo they generally have a lock on the monetarily rich influences, however their grasp is far from complete. The Millionaire Club has been dubbed, "The Douches" behind their backs by Team NOS, and the name has stuck, because most come from very well to do families, are well educated, and well mannered (for a bunch of vampires). The Millionaire Club has the potential (assuming it survives it's current crisis) to be one of the most politically, and socially active coteries, provided they continue favoring back room politics and secret meetings to push their agendas over open conflict.

Until then though, most of the kindred in L.A. consider Le Duches gasping for their last breath.

Requirements - Resources 4

Bonus - Paragon Merit (Resources and Influence can be raised to level 6 @@@@@@), Self Confident Merit (Whenever you spend a Willpower Point to add an extra success to a dice roll you get that WP point back if the roll succeeds)

Penalty - Laughing Stock flaw

Favored Attribute - Manipulation or Intelligence

Members - Barry Murdoch (Cai), Yvonne Charles (Ven) Vera Giovanni (Gio)

Wild Cards - The Wild Cards are a unique bunch of adrenaline junkies who are quite literally nuts. Most of the coterie is into extreme sports, including (but not limited too) night jumping, high speed racing, para sailing, surfing, skating, and just about anything else that would make a mortal's heart pump. They usually hang around the edges of L.A. or underground in the sewers. They're odd because they're nomadic, but they only travel so far, and those who leave Los Angeles are rarely (if ever) seen or heard from again. But that's not everything - The Wild Cards have a substantial amount of influence as well. It's rumored that the coterie has wide access to the docks and LAX. The Wild Cards were never a large coterie, but that's probably because they have some of the most rigid inter rules of any of the coteries.

Requirements: Drive, Athletics, or Survival 4

Bonus: Bonus Dot of Transportation or Street Influence

Penalty: None

Favored Attribute: Wits or Stamina

Members: Ratman (Gan), Todd Mitchell (Gan), A.J. Cooper (Bru), Goo-Goo (Sam), Pepper Caster (Gan)

Factions & Coteries Empty Re: Factions & Coteries

The Midnight Guardians - The Midnight Guardians are a group of violent aggressive kindred who are either X-Sabbat or Camarilla kindred who come from cities particularly dangerous to Anarchs. The Mightnight Guardians are militaristic and follow a strict chain of command. Thich occasionally puts them at odds with other Anarchs, but for the most part they take a proactive role in making sure Los Angeles's defense when it comes to keeping other supernaturals out. In addition to their normal night to night activities, the Midnight Guardians tend to keep tabs on the mortal criminal organizations too.

Founded by the tenacious and terrifying former Sabbat General Dick Shark, The Midnight Guardians are always looking for new blood to add to their ranks, but they're often very distrustful of outsiders until they prove themselves.

Requirements - Brawl, Firearms, or Melee 3, Streetwise 2, Stealth 2, Survival 3, Camarilla, Sabbat, Cathayan, Mage, or Werewolf Lore 2

Bonus - Bonus dot of Police Influence or Underworld Influence, Bonus Equipment, Bonus dot of Brawl, Dodge, Firearms, or Melee

Penalty - Narc Flaw

Favored Attribute - Stregnth or Dexterity

Members - Dick Shark (Ven), Madison Shepard (Las), Hazmina Khan (Ass), Tatiyanna Kozlinski (Tzi), Kelsey Kim (Sal), Kruel (Nos), Richard Dallenbach (Ven)

Triple X - X-Rated, sometimes called Triple X, or Triple X Rated is one of the younger and newer coteries in L.A. It's also one of the more popular coteries too. X-Rated's popularity seems to stem from their awesome ability to host the coolest gatherings and parties. These parties occasionally contain high profile mortals, but usually they don't because said gatherings usually break down into blood and fetish orgies. Besides their large herd and connections to the club scene, X-Rated seems to have their fingers tied to the entertainment - particularly adult entertainment industry.

Requirements: Herd 2, High Society, Street, or Media Influence 2

Bonus: Unbondable Merit, 2 dots of Herd

Penalty: Addiction Flaw (Addiction to either feeding on or being fed on by other kindred, Nymphomania Derangement

Favored Attribute: Appearance or Charisma

Members: Alex Bane (Tor), Wendy Cook (Bru), Shadow Li (Tor), Jillian Reichart (Ven), Melina Lee (Tor), Victoria Santiago (Tor), Zach Davis (Tor)
